Golden Globe Nominations Announced: Things Just Got Interesting

It’s been a busy week for Awards Season. Today the Golden Globe nominations were announced and it made the race much more interesting. Most important revelation of the day: Nicole Kidman is a much bigger factor than anybody had anticipated. She picked up another nomination here for The Paperboy and I would put her ahead of Amy Adams for a nomination at this point. She’s getting a lot of attention right now, when it counts the most. Another big point: Tom Hooper was snubbed in Director for Les Miserables. Maybe that film isn’t as much of a Best Picture frontrunner as we had suspected. Also: Beasts of the Southern Wild got 0 nominations between yesterday and today. It wasn’t as much of a surprise yesterday because of some eligibility technicality at the SAGs, but it needed at least one nom today to stay a serious contender. It looks pretty shaky now.
